Residential Off-Grid Solar Power System
An 8KVA Off Grid solar power installation for a 100 acre rural farm with new 4 bedroom house, sheds & Marron dams located
in Brazier, Western Australia.
The system comprises 32 Schott solar panels, 2 SMA Sunny Boy
inverters, 1 SMA Sunny Island & 24 Exide batteries. The system also has
a Kubota generator to provide emergency backup.
This set up was designed to power a large 4 bedroom house and
workshop on a sheep & Marron farm in Brazier, Western Australia.
The whole system was installed on one section of a large ‘Australian
Barn’ taking advantage of the two angles of the roof to provide good
solar coverage during both winter & summer months.
Two rooms were created in one bay of the shed, one to house the
inverters & distribution boards & the other to house the battery bank.
The system also utilises an SMA Webbox which takes data from the
inverters & control system & makes it available to the owners on their
PC/Tablet/phone via an internet connection to the Sun Portal, a free
service from SMA.
The Portal provides detailed information on the battery state (including
% state of charge), power generated and power used and is an
invaluable aid to managing your solar power system.
